The Municipality of Montepulciano celebrates on 8 November the Giorno dell'Unità Nazionale and the Giornata delle Forze Armate, in remembrance of the fallen of all wars and with a commitment to a future of peace. The ceremony opens at 9:00 in Piazza Grande with the formation of the procession, in which the Municipal Administration and the Combatant and Armed Corps Associations take part, and continues with the parade through the streets of the historic centre. The route includes a stop at the churchyard of the church of Sant'Agostino, for the reading of the Bollettino della Vittoria of 4 November 1918, and one at the Giardino di Poggiofanti, at the obelisk to the Fallen.
